Paul is passionate about painting. He spent his childhood in the picturesque county of Devon – a landscape which first inspired his love and interest in art. He showed early talent, collecting a series of awards in his childhood years. His first job was as a pottery designer and later as an illustrator for the South Devon Scene , a local newspaper. His pen and ink drawings quickly became in demand for multiple clients in the publishing industry. A sign of success to come.
He now works from his studio on Avon Beach in Mudeford. He likes his work to be different from other landscape painters and to achieve this he works in more atmospheric lighting conditions – from heavy foggy days to clear colder evenings. His describes his style as romantic with a focus on finding inspiration from nature and emotions. His technique is sophisticated with many layers of oil and mixed media built up to give depth and emotional content. His work is continually evolving, as is its reputation for quality, clarity, dramatic light and atmosphere.
Paul has an international following from the US to Australia and New Zealand as well as many collectors here in the UK.
