Rebecca Stidson

Rebecca was born in Somerset where she has lived and worked most of her life. After gaining a distinction in her foundation course in Art, she travelled around Australia. There, influenced by the climate and landscape, she started using rich vibrant colours in her paintings and learnt how the aboriginal paintings communicate through the use of very simple naïve shapes.

On returning to England she set up a workshop and gallery at a craft centre in Dorset. After five years she gave up the workshop to spend more time with her family continuing to paint from home.

Her highly coloured and whimsical paintings are created using a glue based paint to produce an embosed outline. She paints using a liquid acrylic on a very heavy watercolour paper that absorbs the colour and gives the vibrancy and glowing colour.
