Jean-Claude Picard Born in 1943, Jean-Claude's early artistic training came as a poster and scene painter before working freelance in many European countries. From 1965 he lived in Cologne before moving to Palma de Mallorca in 2000. Very early in his travels he discovered Provence, Roussillion and Catalonia, spending as much time as possible sketching and painting in those regions. The pastoral scenes with their austere landscapes set between sunny hills and shady pinewoods lit by the Mediterranean light gave Jean-Claude the atmosphere he needed for his kind of painting. Jean-Claude works in the field using only sketchbook and watercolour before returning to the studio to convert his impressions into the eloborate mix which is his technique. |
